The City on a Hill (CoaH) Summer Internship Program exists to expose college students and young adults to church planting in Boston through the City on a Hill Network of neighborhood churches and to develop lifelong disciples of Jesus.

Discipleship
Cultivate leadership in character, conviction, and competency. Teach habits of discipleship.
Exposure to Church Planting
Expose college students to neighborhood ministry and church planting in Boston through the City on a Hill Network of neighborhood churches.

Student experience

Your summer in Boston

June 1 – July 26, 2027

All-Together Orientation & Debrief
Kick off and wrap up the summer with the whole group of CoaH Summer interns.
Weekly Equipping & Training
Gather weekly with all interns for community building and equipping.
Monday – Friday
Serve alongside the church planting staff and team in their neighborhoods. This could look like: prayer walking, handing out granola bars at T-stops, running a library program, planning and executing community events, volunteering with local nonprofits, etc.
Saturday
Day-off unless your church plant has an event.
Sunday
Worship and serve alongside your church plant.

Onboarding process

From application to arrival

    Application Submission

    Complete basic info, questions to assess where you are at in your discipleship journey, and references.

  2. 02

    Reference Check & Background Screen

    City on a Hill staff will review submitted recommendations and run a standard background verification.

  3. 03

    Interview & Selection

    Interview with a City on a Hill staff member or leader.

  4. 04

    Decision & Acceptance Notification

    Official invitation to join the summer internship cohort.

  5. 05

    Team & Cohort Assignment

    Placement based on church partnerships.

  6. 06

    Pre-Summer Training & Preparation

    Guided support-raising, prayer partner development, and orientation materials prior to arrival.
